Award winning architect Tim Nees and journalist Alison Bartley established the gallery in 1993. With a background in media and communications coupled with her first class Honours degree in Art History, Alison has a particular interest in both writing about the visual arts and promoting New Zealand art to local and international audiences. Tim has built the reputation of the gallery on his close connection with artists and curators, and has brought a keen visual eye to the selection and presentation of artists within the gallery.
