History
The post office was established in Feb. 1862 as the Nelson Junction Post Office. In 1866 it became the Bairdstown Junction Post Office. In the late 1880s the name was change to the Trunnelton Post Office after a local family. Finally, the Bardstown Junction Post Office name was restored in 1890 and the office operated until 1957.
