Description
In writing her two mystery series, Barbara Workinger, draws on her background as a research journalist, an antique dealer, and an interest in the art of quilting. She combines them with a fascination for the Amish area where she lived for over twenty years. Ten of those years were spent in researching the Amish.
The first series features irrepressible Amish quilter, Hannah Miller, A.K.A. "Granny Hanny," and her formerly Amish granddaughter, Caroline, now a Lancaster attorney. In the first book, "In Dutch Again," Hannah's neighbor, antique dealer Annette Adams is found murdered, and Hannah is drawn into the investigation. "In Dutch Again," takes place against the colorful background of autumn in Central Pennsylvania.
The sequel, "Shoofly-Pie-to-Die," to be released in 2005, is set in spring. In each book in the series, well researched details of everyday Amish life and special events are woven into the fast paced mysteries.
