Title

Route 66 Association of Arizona

Description

Founded in 1987, the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona, a non-profit corporation, is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and protection of both the surface and memories of this magnificent old highway.

There are over 200 miles of the original Route 66 remaining in Arizona today. The sights and attractions along the way are as remarkable today as they were in their "heyday". Holbrook's Wigwam Village, the unforgettable Jackrabbit Trading Post, Winslow's famous corner, as noted in the Eagles' tune "Take It Easy," Meteor Crater, the tall pines of Flagstaff, and Williams' historic downtown are just a few on the east end of the road.

Ash Fork's Settler's Cemetery, Seligman's old Harvey House, the beautiful Aubrey Cliffs, Grand Canyon Caverns, the Hualapai Indian Reservation, historic Kingman, the "old west" gunfighters of Oatman and the desert terrain of Topock/Golden Shores on the Colorado River, add to the list of uniquely route 66 Arizona attractions. This western section, from Ash Fork to Topock is the longest continuous stretch of the old "Mother Road" left in the U.S., and attracts people from all over the world. So whether you're looking for interesting places to explore, or just a nice long drive in the open air of the old west, Historic Route 66 delivers!
