I have had the good fortune to call Atitlan home for the last twenty years. Atitlan.com developed out of the affection and fascination I have for this delightful corner of the world and for the Mayans who live here.
I started Atitlan.com in 1997 basically with the idea of trying to make enough money to not have to go back to the US to work. I speak English and I had a computer and a camera so I thought: "Why not?". Seven years later, I'm still at it and I still haven't gone back to the US.
I'll admit it wasn't a brilliant business plan. Still, it did survive while many a dot-com crashed and burned. With the formation of Lake Atitlan Resort Association , Atitlan.com, as a hotel guide, focuses on the best accommodations the lake has to offer.
