- A Brief History
- In 1997 Dr David Denning (right), Senior Lecturer at Manchester University Medical School with a strong interest in Aspergillus diseases, set up a website to collect and disperse information about the fungus, Aspergillus, and its effects. Its target audience is mainly the medical profession but it is open to patients too. He also set up an e-mail discussion forum for patients so that they can keep in touch with each other from around the world, and exchange comments on such things as effective treatment and alternative medicines, and offer each other emotional support.
- A group of UK members from this discussion group got together in November 2001 to set up a patient-led charity to play our part in helping people with Aspergillus related illnesses and in encouraging the discovery and spread of more information about them.
