ASC 2006
Description
The 2006 Applied Superconductivity Conference invites you to join us amid the stunning vistas of Seattle, Washington! While you are in Seattle attending ASC 2006, we encourage you to enjoy the wide array of sightseeing and entertainment opportunities this city has to offer.
One of the first natural landmarks visitors will notice if they fly into the Sea-Tac International Airport is Mt. Rainier. The fifth tallest mountain in America, it towers 14,410 feet and provides a majestic backdrop for Elliott Bay and Puget Sound. Visitors may also recognize the Space Needle, one of Seattle’s most famous structures, that distinguishes the city’s skyline. Rising 605 feet, it offers dinner with a view in its revolving SkyCity restaurant.
Seattle’s landscape is painted with a picturesque blend of snow-capped mountains, subtle evergreen hues, and flowered hillsides. The city is surrounded by the Olympic Mountains to the west, across Puget Sound, and the Cascade Mountains to the east. Olympic National Park, easily reached by car or ferry, encompasses the Hoh Rain Forest, the only temperate rainforest in the continental United States. The Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument lies south of Seattle and Mt. Rainier. Want a more adventuresome gaze at the sleeping giant that is Mt. St. Helens? Try a helicopter tour which returns you to Seattle by evening!
