- In the 1960s when rheumatologist Dr Leslie Koadlow AM reflected on what support people with arthritis needed to manage their condition, he acknowledged that people other than doctors had an important contribution to make in this process. He saw the need for an organisation to support people with arthritis to live better with their condition between appointments with their medical practitioners. At the heart of this was the idea that people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions could help each other.
