- The past few months have been a time of continuing expansion at ARTstor, and also a time when we have had an increased sense of the ways in which we are part of a growing network – an infrastructure that connects creators and users, repositories and scholars. Growth of our activities only matters if we continue to figure out the best ways to build bridges – bridges between libraries and instructional technologists, between visual resource departments and remote collections, between those who care for objects or sites or create art and those who want to use images for educational use. That means that we need to work alongside all those who have a stake in striking good balances and crafting good solutions.
- For example, in March, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that it would make available, through ARTstor, image files to scholars that are of sufficient size and quality to be used in scholarly publications without charging a fee for such use.
