Ararat Mountain is a stratovolcano, formed of lava flows and pyroclastic ejecta, with no volcanic crater. Not currently active, its most recent eruption has probably been within the last 11,000 years. The mountain has twin peaks known as the Great Ararat Peak and the Little Ararat Peak. Mt Ararat climbing permits and guides: The Turkish government requires a climbing permit and the use of a certified & licensed Turkish guide for Climb or Skiing on Mount Ararat.
