Ararat Mountain is a stratovolcano, formed of lava flows and pyroclastic ejecta, with no volcanic crater. Not currently active, its most recent eruption has probably been within the last 11,000 years. The mountain has twin peaks known as the Great Ararat Peak and the Little Ararat Peak.
