- The Arannayk Foundation has been established by the joint initiative of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the United States of America in response to the state of depletion of tropical forest resources. Arannayk, also known as the Bangladesh Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation, aims at improved management, conservation and restoration of natural forests and biodiversity. The foundation was created after the signing of the "Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh regarding the reduction of a certain debt related to agricultural trade owed to the Government of the United States and its agencies". The foundation registered under the companies act 1994 is managed by an independent Board of Directors. The Board of directors shall comprise of the following: a) One Director from the Govt. of Bangladesh, b) one Director from the Govt. of the United States and c) five Directors from any of the following organizations (i) environmental non-government organizations, (ii) local community development non-government organizations, (iii) scientific, academic and/or forestry organizations. The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Offcer(CEO) of the foundation.
