- The Prairie Crocus or Pasque Flower is one of our earliest and most beautiful wildflowers. It is well known all across the prairies and both Manitoba and South Dakota have chosen it as their floral emblem. These delicate purple blossoms appear so early in the spring that it's not unusual to find them poking up through blankets of snow. Across the prairies, brown spring landscapes are transformed each year to a fields of lavender as the Prairie Crocus comes into flower.
