Anne Lewington is a retired teacher and painter living on the Isle of Wight.

Educated at Watford Grammar School, St. Martins School of Art and Reading University, she taught general subjects to children up to the age of eleven and Art to adults. Shortly after moving to the Isle of Wight she founded, with her now ex-husband, the Island’s centre for the arts, known as Quay Arts, and ran her own studio, producing and selling mainly oil paintings and teaching adults to paint and draw. She also made a programme for local TV.

Anne has three sons and three grandsons, the youngest of whom she helps look after as her son Paul who is adopted, is disabled and a single parent. Anne began to write following a car accident in which she lost an eye. The sight in her remaining eye was also damaged making painting difficult and before long she developed a great passion for writing. The subject of her novel, Immortali, is the Commedia dell’Arte, travelling actors who first appeared in Italy during the Renaissance and these characters have featured in several of her paintings.

Her fascination with the subject began when she was a teenager after seeing Les Enfants du Paradis at a school film club.
