Description
Angela qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 with Ernst & Young in London. Post qualification, she gained several years’ corporate advisory and litigation support experience before specializing in the valuation of shares and businesses. As a director at Ernst & Young she had responsibility for a number of high profile assignments. She was recruited by Coopers & Lybrand Corporate Finance in early 1991. After a career break she worked as a consultant to a medium sized firm of chartered accountants as their valuation specialist and was subsequently in partnership with specialist valuer Christopher Glover. She founded her own practice in 2002.

Angela Hennessey is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is a Council Member of the Society of Share and Business Valuers, a founder member of The Expert Witness Institute and a member of the Academy of Experts.
Related relevant experience and appointments
Angela Hennessey has been appointed on many occasions by the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants to act as the expert in determining valuation/buy-out disputes. In 2004 she was appointed to a panel of six independent experts to act as expert for the Inland Revenue in relation to complex tax valuation cases that might go to litigation. She is a panel member (one of eight members) of the Accountancy Arbitration Panel administered by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a member of a panel of adjudicators administered by the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) to adjudicate disputes arising from certain aspects of a banking operation. She has acted twice as a referee for the Research Board of the ICAEW. She was consulted by the Law Commission on proposed legislation concerning shareholder remedies and on partnership law in relation to valuation issues (Partnership Law: Joint Report Law Com No 283/Scot Law Com No 192). She was the only named accountant/accountancy firm or valuer to have been consulted by the Law Commission in relation to the valuation of partnerships.
