The Firm was founded circa 1840 by Edmund Clifford Ames and was run for the next 90 years by the Ames Family passing from Father to Son. In the 1930's Robert Pender Kent joined the Firm changing the name to Ames Kent. During the 1960's the Firm moved to Bridge House in Frome. In 1988 the firm expanded into Wiltshire acquiring Pembroke House in Westbury.
