- The American Blueberry Company LLC was formally organized in August 2007. Founder Hare Stuart became interested in the newer varieties of blueberry bushes developed and introduced by the University of Minnesota. Realizing the huge economic potential for commercial blueberry production in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Northern Michigan, Hare began an in-depth research into these newer varieties, which were developed to withstand the harsh climes of Zone 3 hardiness.
