- In the 1950s, Scranton, Pennsylvania community leaders and service organizations created an alliance dedicated to improving and expanding services to people with disabilities. From that beginning, Allied Services began to provide vocational training opportunities to individuals in the community. The Allied healthcare system, founded in the early 1960s, now is one of the country’s most diverse not-for-profit providers of rehabilitative, vocational, home care and residential services.
