- obbyists. As a youth in the 1940's, Duane convinced the local Presbyterian church to give him one of the reed organs which they had in storage. He took the organ home, disassembled it, did a thorough cleaning, put it back together and had a musical instrument which provided him with many hours of pleasure. When John met Duane in 1962 he had never seen a reed organ, but once discovering these instruments, John likewise found a new interest.
