- In May I began a life-long partnership with the love of my life, Nancy Aguilar, Ph.D. Mi querida is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California-Irvine. The city of Irvine is about 30 minutes south of Los Angeles. Nancy conducts marine physiology studies on the long-jaw mudsucker. We met in April 2001 in Virginia at a National Science Foundation minority postdoctoral fellows conference.
