- Alan Kenny spent 20 years as a moderately successful landscape painter before coming into his own in the mid-1990's with his colourful paintings of musicians, hot-air balloons, bathing nudes and other surreal subjects. Those who have witnessed a threefold rise in his prices in as many years may feel that they have missed the boat, but his gallery believes that the international market for his boldly coloured canvasses has barely been tapped. In his best work, there is a compositional surefootedness, and a sense of playful optimism by which a small painting lights up a whole room.
