Originally started by one guy with a vision as huge as BET (bet.com). The company is still in BETA stage and going thru a complete site reorganization with the color scheme but will house many video's from around the web with special and specific focus on African American and urban content. It goes by the name of AACtv.tv, also. New sections are said to be music videos, comedy, a religion section and cooking to name a few. He plans to also produce original projects for the online network. The company is constantly looking to build partnerships and relationships with small production companies that have content with a focus on allowing them to sell ad space in their own projects. They already have several pilots of their shows shot. Early 2007 was a soft launch for the network online and apparently is looking to relaunch sometime in mid 2008 with a full-fledged launch according to an article in Broadcasting and Cable magazine (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6478750.html). The African American Channel touts every month as "Black History Month."
I've heard everytime the guy who started The African American Channel speaks about business this guy usually refers to successfull people (not just African Americans)and is quick to tell anyone about Napoleon Hill, Les Brown and Tony Robbins. His whole focus is on being positive, growing the network and moving forward in every aspect of life. Is this guy for real? We'll have to wait a bit to see this site grow. It will definitely take time, but it has a great name so it could catch on. In time this one will be HUGE---another BET but on the web. Wow!
