Mission Statement The Alliance Française of Calgary Our mission is to promote the French language, francophone cultures and intercultural exchanges. Our Past The Alliance Française was created in Paris in 1883 to promote the French language. It has evolved into a worldwide network of 1075 Alliance’s each of which is a locally based non profit association. The AFC is managed by a board of directors made up of Calgarians from both the public and private sectors.
