INTRODUCTION Despite the fact that several guidelines and directions for appropriate medical management have been developed for end stage renal disease, little or none has been done so far concerning acute renal failure and its treatment. For this reason we decided to undertake a process seeking consensus and evidence based statements guidelines in the field of acute renal failure. The name of this process is ADQI: Acute Dialysis Quality Initiative.
