- I learned the story behind the accordion. A woman bought it as a gift for her husband, maybe in the 1950s or 1960s. He really seemed to want one. She bought recorders for her sons at the same time, perhaps hoping to inspire music in the family. She decided to go with a small, inexpensive accordion instead of the one he really wanted. If he really took to it, she would buy him something more sophisticated. I guess he didn't get very far with it.
