Nonzero by Robert Wright
- The premise of nonzero is that people have always sought out win-win solutions to win-lose situations. If you and I are both threatened by "them" we each benefit from cooperating in our mutual defense against "them". This process explains the evolution of ever larger social organizations with the survival of those organizations that are best at meeting the needs of - and therefore obtaining the loyalty of the largest most inventive population. Both numbers, loyalty and inventiveness matter.
