Imperial Gloriensburg is a website committed to providing you with different sources available on the Internet as a public domain reference as well as featured and original content, focusing on different areas of the human knowledge. This concept does not only include 19th Century-related topics but information beyond the Victorian era such as the early Webster's Unabridged Dictionary of the early 20th century (1913) and the Probert Text Encyclopaedia published in the later years of the 1990s, just to name a few.
However, another of the the site's most popular features is the custom version of the Open Directory Project that we offer to our visitors. The Open Directory Project was found the summer of 1998 by Rich Skrenta and Bob Truel, a couple of enthusiasts webmasters based in California, who named their directory "Newhoo".
Later that year, Netscape bought the directory with a goal in mind: build the largest and most comprehensive human-edited open source directory under the domain dmoz.org. This way, the Open Directory Project is serving to its original purpose being part of a honest segment, sometimes critiziced and questioned, that offers free information open to all web surfers, as well as a submission service, feature of special relevance for webmaster wanting to spread the world about their websites.
