Auctionpay Inc. sells software that helps nonprofits, charities and schools run their fundraising events smoothly, while saving them time and money.
The company also sells software that enables online donation and other ways for charities to nurture relationships with donors on an ongoing basis.
Acquired by Global Payments in 2009
Global Payments Inc., one of the largest payment processing companies worldwide, acquired Auctionpay in September 2009.
Deal terms weren't disclosed publicly, but Auctionpay CEO Steve Sterba told the Portland Business Journal that it was an all-cash transaction.
Global Payments, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is publicly traded, and reported $1.6 billion in revenue for its fiscal year ending in May 2009. The company's market valuation was nearly $4 billion at the time it purchased Auctionpay.
Auctionpay, based in Portland, Oregon, had raised at least $13 million in venture funding from Maveron LLC of Seattle, Washington, and Appian Ventures of Denver, Colorado. Maveron, the firm launched by Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, invested $7.5 million in 2005, and was joined by Appian in a $5.5 million round of investment in 2006.
