Hi and welcome

I've been following the work you've been doing on all the Heer pages and subpages - great content! Let me know if you'd like help in prettying up the pages: adding pictures, etc. FatimaRaja 21:12, 12 December 2007 (PST)

Prettying pages

Well, one of the simplest things to do when starting out is simply to go to another AboutUs page you like the look of, and copy the wiki code over. That's how I built my user page, back when I started out.

If you've got pictures to put up, then you have to first Special:Upload the image (make sure it's not too big, and that it's copyright-free).

Then simply put this wiki code where you want the picture to show up: [[Image:nameofpicture.xyz]] .

Then there are refinements, such as wrapping text around a picture: [[Image:nameofpicture.xyz|left]] or |right.

The things to notice are that image files are designated Image:..., and all links are in square brackets. The pipe | means that you're about to give a special instruction regarding the picture or link (for an example of a link, click edit and see how I've linked to my user page.

For a more detailed account of all the things you can do with pictures, take a look here:

Hope that helps you start out. And keep in mind that wiki edits can always be reversed, so feel free to experiment. If you feel you've done something wrong, roll it back, or leave a message for one of the AboutUs staff.
