Jerry Katzman MD - How to separate the Omega-3 myths from the facts.

Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid, otherwise known as an EFA, that is found in fish, in certain plants and in health supplements. You probably know that in order for your body to function properly, you should be consuming adequate amounts of essential fatty acids, including Omega-3. Omega-3 Myths

Myth #1: Our body can produce Omega-3 on its own. We don’t need to consume it.

Actually, our bodies can’t produce Omega-3. Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid and essential fatty acids are acids that your body needs in order to function properly, but your body cannot effectively make these acids from other substances.

Myth #2: Foods containing Omega-3 cause people to gain weight.

This myth couldn’t be further from the truth. While fatty fish that contain Omega-3 acids do indeed contain fat, they contain the good fats rather than the bad fats that cause people to gain weight. Myth #3: Omega-3 supplements are dangerous because they contain mercury and other toxins.

While this is true in some cases, it is most definitely not true in all cases.

Not all Omega-3 supplements are created equal and whether or not a supplement contains contaminants has a lot to do with how the Omega-3 in the supplement is processed.

Pharmaceutical grade Omega-3 supplements, such as those from Jerry Katzman, do not contain mercury or other contaminants. The Truth Is Out There

It’s important to know the truth about Omega-3 supplements and the ability to separate fact from fiction is priceless.
