The new AboutUs tool (beta) ranks websites in any topic. Sites only appear in the topic lists of the topics they have on their AboutUs page. The presence and quality of the website summary is one factor that helps determine how high the website ranks in the list.
Topics
Topics (similar to tags or categories) are meant to be topics that the site is about. (For example, Google.com should be in the topic "search engine" and CNN.com in "news".) Making sure that a site is listed under relevant topics is important, and quality > quantity.
- Q: How do I add a topic?
- A: While on the AboutUs page about the website click the green "(add a topic)" link.
- Q: How do I remove a topic?
- A: Click the little X in a circle to the left of the topic.
