Description
We are steelworkers and nurses, teachers and postal workers, office professionals and road builders, laborers, computer operators--and more. We work in private industry and public service. We are over 300,000 working Minnesotans who belong to 1000 affiliated local unions, statewide and regional councils and retiree organizations. Nearly 20 percent of all Minnesotans belong to unions.
We advocate because all of us--members and non-members alike--benefit from living in a state whose policies respect work and strengthen families. And there are clear economic benefits for union members:
- Minnesota women with full time jobs who are union members earn an average of 26 percent more than women with full time jobs who are not union members.
