Envirosafe Technologies N.Z. Ltd, manufacturers of Mega-Catch™ mosquito traps, is 100% New Zealand owned and operated. Based out of Auckland, the company distributes and sells it products through its on-line store to over 40 countries around the globe, including Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, and Argentina.
Mega-Catch™ mosquito traps were first introduced into the U.S. in early 2000. A wide variety of mosquito traps are available there, where emerging fatal mosquito-borne diseases stimulate the market for such devices. When mosquitoes started making headlines, the public was bombarded with health advisories and mosquito control became the latest buzz word. Combined with on-going anti-pesticide sentiment, the number of companies manufacturing mosquito traps increased dramatically. All this led to a need for evaluating the effectiveness of these traps.
In 2003, the Public Health Entomology Research & Education Center (PHEREC) of Florida A&M University conducted a comparision of mosquito species and numbers caught in 8 commercial mosquito traps. The Mega-Catch™ Ultra Mosquito Trap was the clear leader.
