Busy Tonight is a search engine for events.  Upon first glance, the interface is strikingly similar to Google, and in a good way - you'll find the familiar single search window, vertically ordered results, and even keyword relevant ads on the right.  Searches can be executed from specific cities and draw information from an index of local event-related sites.

Even here in New York City, we were finding ourselves sitting alone at home more often than we would like. Just like you, we were tired of hearing just a little too late about concerts we would have attended, lectures we shouldn't have missed, sports events that would have been fun -- if only we'd learned about them the day before they happened. We set out to solve this problem for ourselves, and decided to share the results with you. ''

Busy Tonight - Find Any Event

BusyTonight logo.gif

Busy Tonight is a search engine for events. Upon first glance, the interface is strikingly similar to Google, and in a good way - you'll find the familiar single search window, vertically ordered results, and even keyword relevant ads on the right. Searches can be executed from specific cities and draw information from an index of local event-related sites.

What events? Where?

In their November 2006 press release, Busy Tonight claims to have indexed over 500,000 listings, making them the 'largest source of event listings in the world.' Here are their statistics for several cities among the many (500+) included in their database:

  • New York City - 34,000 events
  • Los Angeles - 22,000
  • San Francisco - 19,000
  • Philadelphia - 18,000
  • Chicago - 15,000

Competitors

Among others, Zvents, CitySearch, and Upcoming provide information on about 2,500, 2,000, and 500 events respectfully (stats taken from BusyTonight site). Unlike Busy Tonight, these sites require users to enter event information as opposed to collecting it from an index of 'canonical sources.'
