Ivy Cottage Industries

Ivy Cottage Industries was set up in 2007 by multimedia engineer Phil Brammer. The Ivy Cottage part of the appellation is from the name of his Birnam home in the heart of Scotland; Industries refers to the various types of work carried out, such as web design, videography, multimedia design and authoring, and mastering for CD and DVD.

Phil became interested in the use of computers for graphics and the digitization and manipulation of video during the 1980s in London, where he worked in publishing and advertising as well as performing and recording with various bands such as No Exit, London Pleasures, and the Warholas.

He was an early user of MIDI systems and a regular contributor to magazines such as MicroMusic, where he reviewed new MIDI hardware and software and wrote about how the digitisation of information would change the way we all worked.

After moving to Holland in 1990 Phil worked as a desk editor for an online publishing company and with the recording band Ambush Sound Control. In 1998 he enrolled at the College of Multimedia in Amsterdam and received his MME diploma (Multimedia Engineer) in 2000.
