The drink that many people are talking about is not new. The drink is an ancient liquor which was originally made in the 18th century. An alcoholic beverage known as Absinth, or The Green Fairy. The name derives from the greenish color and the strong effects that it may cause. The Absinth or Absinthe was originally made in France during the 18th century for medical purposes. Thujon, the active ingredient present in Absinthe, was banned in France. The Czech Republic began producucing the sought after beverage. The name changed from Absinthe to Absinth, by which it is more commonnly called today. The Czech Republic did not regulate the amounts of thujon contained in drinks, therefore, the Czech Republic became the preferred country for the production of Absinth. Producers in the Czech Republic made it just a little different from the Absinthe produced in France. The different ways of distilling gave each Absinth a unique and different flavor. The Czech Republic Absinth is very different and special from other drinks because of the blended mixture of herbs. ''
