Hyosung motorcycles (S&T Motors) was a department in the Hyosung group that spun off in 1978. Since then they have been slowly gaining recognition in the motorcycle industry producing cheap, reliable commuter bikes in Korea, while also manufacturing parts for Suzuki in Asia. Up until recently this was there core business.

In 2005 they released there new range of motorcycles.

The main ones include the GT comet, GTR, and Aquila models, depending on which country you are in these bikes are available in 125, 250, and 650 cc engine displacements. All of which are in-house developed V-twin engines that rival the V-twins from Suzuki and other Japanese makes.

The 125cc and 250cc models are oil cooled 4 strokes which produce 14.6bhp and 28.8bhp respectively.

The 650cc model is a water cooled model that produces 82bhp. This engine has been developed specifically to compete with the Suzuki SV.

One of the noticeable things about the Hyosung bikes is how unlike the Japanese and European bike manufacturers many parts are interchangeable between the different model bikes (ie, pretty much everything apart from frame engine and related drive parts are interchangeable between the 650cc and the 125cc GTR models). For me this has two benefits, firstly manufacturing costs are cut down which allows Hyosung to pass on the saving to customers resulting is very competitive prices for new bikes. Secondly the smaller displacement models are given big bike looks, the dimensions of the 125, 250, and 650cc GT/R are all the same.

Hyosung motors also has a keen eye for styling, styling is very person specific but the general consensus is that that bring very nice and up to date styling to there bikes, which coupled with there competitive prices and gaining reputation makes them a brand to watch over the next few years.

I brought my Hyosung GTR is 2007 and have never looked back, the bike is everything i expected and goes beyond. I have a habit of modifying my vehicles and the Hyosung is no different, a lot of the info on this site is going to be modifying. But also about parts and products, although Hyosung have come to the table and gained a good reputation they are still very new and many aftermarket companies don’t stock Hyosung parts (yet), for a new Hyosung owner is can be difficult to know were to look.

A lot of the information compiled on this site has been inspired by riders on the Korider website. In my opinion becoming a member of the forum is vital if you are a Hyosung owner. There are hunderends of Hyosung owners on there that can be very helpful and have enjoyable conversations with.
