ZU first appeared on the Internet in April 1998 on the webspace provided free to subscribers to AOL. For a few months, ZU was known as Zen Unbound Hub. [Go figure.] This first incarnation of ZU was around for a year and a half, disappearing under a wave of electrons in December, 1999. Readers can find vestiges of ZU Mach One at the archive organization. [Here's a link to the old, Mach 1 stull.] A more complete record of ZU Mach One can be found on the harddrive of a very, very old PC in a big cardboard box that is in a big wooden box in a big warehouse in Burlingame, California.
The Second Coming of Zen Unbound is dated on or about September 24, 2002 at its new-and-forevermore address of www.zenunbound.com . Readers: When your great, great grandchildren are dead, the grandchildren of your great, great grandchildren will be delighted by the sights, the sounds, the odors [from hypertext markup language with cascading smell sheets] of Zen Unbound at www.zenunbound.com . Count on it. We will still be here when Amazon has dried up and disappeared; when Yahoo is just something cowboys say when they're happy; when Tricycles are things kiddies pedel around on and when pets.com is no longer cracking us up with their whacky TV commercials and filling the streets with their catfood-delivery vans.
Right now, ZU Headquarters is in Citrus Heights, California – about 100 yards down the street from where the World Champion Sacramento Capitals Team Tennis plays its home games in a temporary facility located in the parking lot of the Sunrise Mall. Yes, sometimes one of team captain Andre Agassi's wild serves flies onto the porch of ZU Headquarters. When that happens, the flustered staff of ZU often refuses to return the errant ball and the game has to be forfeited. It's a hell of a thing, but the ZU staff serves meals of tasty peanuts to scrub jays on that porch and its bad enough when yellow-billed magpies disrupt the jays' meals. “DON'T SERVE SO DAMN HARD, ANDRE!” we yell.
