Description
Excerpted from the website:
- In 1875 the modern hoisting industry was established in the United States when Henry R. Towne of the Yale Lock Manufacturing Company obtained the exclusive rights to build the Differential Pulley Block from Thomas Weston, a British Mechanical Engineer, who invented the device in 1854. Weston then as an employee of Yale invented the Weston Screw Load Brake in 1877, a mechanical load control brake, of which modern versions are still the industry standard today.
