Xeriscape Council of New Mexico

Description

The Xeriscape Council of New Mexico was formed i n 1986/87 after a group of concerned green-industry professionals interested in the use of native plants in conservation efforts attended a Xeriscape Conference in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The Xeriscape Council is education and project oriented. Its current primary focus is to conduct a two-day conference every 12 months on water conservation and landscape. The Council plans to continue to bring high-level globally oriented experts and speakers to Albuquerque for the 2-day conference and to expand the offerings of free seminars for the Saturday, open to the public sessions. The Saturday sessions will focus on more practical 'how to' seminars on design, plant selection, irrigation and maintenance.

The Xeriscape Council incorporated in 1998 and received 501(c)(3) status in 1999. It can conduct educational programs, training sessions and conferences on the general topic of xeriscaping and its role in water conservation. The Council may consult and train on the general topic of xeriscaping, produce books, materials and reports, and conduct other general consulting activities regarding conservation.
