DTV is Digital television. It is any TV broadcast that uses a digital signal. Congress has set early 2009 as the date for broadcasters to turn off the existing analog broadcasting systems. But until digital television is prevalent throughout the US , TV stations will continue to broadcast in both analog and digital.
WRCB-DT transmits on the digital Channel 3.1 with a power of 37 Kilowatts. Like traditional TV, our digital signal is a free over the air broadcast signal that you can receive via your UHF antenna. In addition you will require a digital tuner which is built into some digital televisions or can be purchased as a stand-alone box. WRCB-DT is also available on Comcast Cable channel 232 and Charter Cable channel 788 During the day, WRCB-DT up-converts WRCB-TV (analog Channel 3). During the evenings WRCB-DT transmits true High Definition Television (HDTV) for NBC programming which is produced by the NBC Television Network. The HDTV format which NBC and WRCB-DT uses is 1080i.
WRCB-DT can also be seen on Channel 306 of Community Television Company’s cable system serving Jasper, GA. WRCB-DT will soon be seen on Dalton Utilities “Optilink” cable service. Channel has not yet been assigned.
