The Wood County Industrial Commission investigates and undertakes ways of promoting development of business, industry and commerce in the county. The commission promotes the location and development of new businesses and industries in the county and maintenance and expansion of existing businesses. One of these important industries is tourism and, in that area, the Wood County Industrial Commission works to increase Wood County’s visibility as a tourist destination and provide opportunities for the development and expansion of tourism activities and industry in Wood County.

Wood County is located in the northeast section of Texas. The counties of Smith, Rains, Upshur, Hopkins, Van Zandt, Camp, and Franklin border it. Located within the county are the incorporated cities of Alba, Hawkins, Mineola, Quitman, Winnsboro, and Yantis. It is located approximately 90 miles east of Dallas, midway between Dallas and Shreveport. Wood County has an estimated population of 39,286 really nice people.
