  • Ultimate -- For power users, Microsoft offers the "Ultimate" edition, with both the productivity and play of the other editions in one combined package.
  • Home Premium -- The "regular" edition of Windows Vista for both home desktops and laptops. Includes most of the features of the "Ultimate" edition, without hardware protection and HD movie creation capabilities.
  • Home Basic -- Suitable for basic computing needs, like e-mail, internet browsing and photo viewing, doesn't include some of the advanced "eye candy" and visual interfacing as the other versions.
  • Business -- Designed specifically for small businesses, this edition skimps on some of the multimedia stuff (photos, media center) to focus on the needs of business, like better business network connectivity and hardware protection
  • Enterprise -- For large global organizations and businesses with demanding IT infrastructures, provides for extra hardware-based data encryption among other things.
