Question
The content from the wiki that this is on, WritingWiki.org is CC-by-nc, so what is the way to link to this image, or transclusion of it? MarkDilley
- The problem here Mark is that the photo isn't actually on the WritingWiki.org website, but is being pulled from an external site that doesn't appear to be covered by a free license CollegeWriting.us. This makes it unclear as to how legal it is for us to use it and even for WritingWiki.org to use it (although they probably got permission).
- If the legality weren't potentially, an issue, you could just link to the image (no brackets) like this http://collegewriting.us/Picture%20Library/wikiHeader.jpg and it'd pull the image from the external source. You could also get fancy and have a "ClickPic" template that clicking on the image actually piped to the WritingWiki.org front page.
- Either way, you'd want to cite where you got the image on the page (since you can't leave a note in the file history/discussion like an internal image) and probably in the edit summary too, just to be nice and give them Google-love for having such a cool image.
