- Catherine Petke was born in Michigan in the summer of 1987. She began writing poetry at an early age, dictating her first multi-stanza poem at age 6-1/2. For her, poetry was just as natural a form of expression as conversation. While many youth tune the world out, Catherine was tuning in, deeply connecting with nature and writing all of the poems in Whispering Muses between the ages of 13 and 17. For her, the simple beauty and truth of nature stirred the creative embers in her soul.
