Veterans of hotel living, their familiarity with world-class concierge service informs the level of hospitality and creative assistance they bring to their clients Born in Chile, Georgie Benardete (Director of Development) grew up in Argentina, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Her undergraduate studies in Latin American History at the University of Puerto Rico included internships in the U.S. Congress, Coopers & Lybrand Buenos Aires and Virginia), and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). As a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Georgetown University, she earned a Masters degree with Honors in International Studies. She worked as an investment banker with JP Morgan in New York before moving to Turkey to manage export and quality control for Atmosphere. Born in Turkey, Sabi Benardete (Creative Director) moved to Switzerland at age eleven. He studied in Switzerland and the United States, where he received his B.A. in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. Returning to Spain where his family had settled, he met his wife, Lichelle (Visual Director & Buyer), then in law school. The couple moved to New York before settling in Puerto Rico. Shopping for their own home, they recognized a gap in the home furnishings market for consumers like themselves who were ready for a sophisticated sensibility informed by their world travels -- but at accessible prices with custom capabilities to fit their individual spaces. The market disparity inspired the couple to partner with family members Jak and Georgie Benardete in Turkey to develop prototypes that would lead to a furniture line inspired by impulses absorbed in their international travels. The company launched in 1998 as Atmosphere, with the San Juan-based parent store in Puerto Rico and residential projects in London, Geneva, Marbella, Paris, and Miami.
