- Eight years ago, my wife and I were out shopping for Christmas presents for our two and four legged family members. As we finished up at the typical toy and bookstores we then headed for our local pet store. We were greeted by the usual assortment of dog and cat toys and treats. We brought home a couple of fun treats and toys for our mixed group of four cats and four dogs. After the festivities of the morning we began to assemble the usual tricycles, Barbie houses and remote control this and that. We wanted to also get the four legged critters into all the fun and opened up the treats and toys. After a mere fifteen to twenty minutes of play our plastic feathery thing that we had purchased for the cats was in pieces all over the house along with the rope and balls that we had purchased for the dogs. This is when I had a thought, “I could build some toys that I know would last a long time and that our pets would love to play with.”
