Valerie Hinde has been an architect for 23 years. Much of her work is centred on small scale projects set in delicate landscapes, often making use of her specialist qualifications and recognised expertise in building conservation. However her portfolio also encompasses larger works, modern buildings and urban environments.
After qualifying at Newcastle University and a year working in Pembrokeshire National Park, Val joined Sir William Whitfield’s international practise in Central London where she worked on some of the landmark buildings of the 1980s.
Moving to Sussex in 1984, initially joining Roth Partnership, allowed Val to focus more on smaller works and community based projects. Caring for churches, extending family homes, and projects in education and healthcare became mainstays of her work. She also worked on many social developments such as hospices and commercial projects involving housing, offices, shops and sports facilities. Joining CMA Architects enabled her to gain qualifications and develop expertise in the conservation field and concentrate more on social and private commissions.
