     --------*****------

Brief Life—Presently, Ajai Kumar Chhawchharia is working as an In-Charge/Manager of the world famous temple of the holy city of Ayodhya, called the ‘Kanak Bhavan Temple’. He has been working in this temple ever since 1987. He has, meanwhile, taken a vow of not leaving Ayodhya for the rest of his life, come what may. Born on 8th August, 1955, Ajai decided to renounce the comforts and pleasures of the material world, remain a bachelor, and serve his beloved God, Lord Ram, in whatever little way he can. The charms of the material world lost their temptations for him. So, after the demise of his father in 1985, he left home for good, and came to take shelter with his Lord Ram at Ayodhya during the same year. The Lord however wished to make sure of His son’s integrity, sincerity, faith and devotion, and so He put Ajai through a very severe test in the way of many tormenting long years of abject despair, misery, helplessness and haplessness. But the same Lord is so kind and loving that He himself helped Ajai, though silently and secretly, to pass these testing times in flying colours. Having helped him to pass the initial foreboding years of great misery, dismay, misfortune and an all-engulfing darkness, the Lord finally showed the world, through his instance, how excellently He takes care of His son, and makes this ‘son’ live like a prince in a way that is befitting His glory! The Lord indeed proved by the example of Ajai’s tumultuous life how wonderfully and miraculously a man—who had never faced material hardships early on in life, who was born in a privileged family but whose life was suddenly thrown into a toss and flipped like a straw in a choppy ocean, a dismayed and helpless man who had nobody to call his friend in the world, a hapless man who had no hope of ever seeing the light at the end of the darkest tunnel one can ever imagine of, a distraught man who had a dark and bleak future staring blankly on his face in a horrifying manner, but who had blindly put himself in the care of the Lord without even blinking and who had jumped off the cliff of life in the yawning chasm of the unknown future simply relying on the Lord’s holy name, relying upon the Lord’s mercy, grace and love—is redeemed and crowned with a glory and honour that eludes even the most privileged men who might have the rarest of good fortunes at their disposal. The merciful, loving and gracious Lord has protected Ajai like a shield and personal body-armour; the Lord has never let Ajai ever feel alone and helpless; the Lord paid special attention to see that His son never had any drop of chance tear in his eyes, and He made it absolutely sure that Ajai never regretted his decision to come to Ayodhya and live in the shadow of the Lord’s merciful grace. Ajai raises his hand to say under solemn oath that if there is anyone who can be truly called caring, loving and merciful in this creation, then it is certainly Lord Ram, the Greatest Lord God of creation, and this truth needs no repetition and any more affirmation! Leading an austere life with simple habits, Ajai Kumar Chhawchharia spends his time preparing English versions of rare scriptures (detailed briefly below), thinking that perhaps this is the holy mission for which his soul took up residence in the gross body of his, alongside serving the Lord lovingly and to the best of his abilities, and doing service in the world-famous temple of Ayodhya known as ‘Kanak Bhavan’. He thinks that his life is completely fulfilled and the most privileged one. This declaration does not have any negative connotation whatsoever of being egoist, proud or haughty in the slightest, but Ajai feels that if he does not declare so he would be failing in his duty and his moral obligation to acknowledge his indebtedness and gratefulness towards his Lord Ram who has gone out of His way to pick up this humble man lost in the fearfully stormy, a wildly choppy and the howling ocean of life, and on the verge of drowning, to seat him on a high pedestal on which Ajai finds himself at present!

Vocation and Works: I’m an author who has written selflessly and with dedication more than a score books in English to translate, explain, interpret and comment upon voluminous classical Indian scriptural texts in simple English language with the intent of making them and their profound wisdom accessible to modern society across the globe. Classical Indian scriptures such as the Upanishads and the various versions of the Ramayana are ripe with wisdom, metaphysical philosophy and spiritualism, but unfortunately they are restricted to a handful of scholars and book-shelves of libraries, and not easily accessible to the modern world mainly because of the language barrier and lack of their availability in modern format. The same thing applies to the devotional literature produced by the great saint-poet-scholar of medieval India named Tuslidas whose classics are the beloved choice of the masses in India. My endeavour is to present to the world in simple readable English these classics so that the world of today can access these texts easily and benefit from the ancient wisdom of our wise and enlightened sages. I do this as a mission of my life and as a service of my Lord God.
