The university plays a strategic role in the global progress of nations and constitutes an essential pillar in developing countries. A university with a solid structure is one of the main foundations of national autonomy. Thus, every country that aims at being self-sufficient has to generate its own knowledge and avoid relying on imported technology.The importance of research must be emphasized since it is the basis for a promising future. It should also be stated that the academy serves society and should permanently interact with it.
We wish the health professional to become engaged in the advancement of citizenhood. He must hold a humanistic formation, a general knowledge in the health field, social responsibility and technical skills. The history of UNIFESP shows us to be fully capacitated to incorporate new visions, for we have been a pole of excellence in health teaching, scientific research and health care. Our doors have always been open to all those who bring any positive contribution, regardless of where it comes from. This principle has guided our growth and is still the main source of the force that keeps us moving forward to this day.
To develop, with high standards of excellence , interrelated activities of teaching, research and extension, aiming for national and international leadership in health sciences.
