Welcome to 2006 and year thirteen of the UCWDC® Judge Certification Program. We are excited about the many new changes in the curriculum. This year all event directors in the US are required to have fully certified judges on each panel; in Europe and Canada the majority of every panel must be fully certified. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Vice-President in charge of the Judge Certification Program, Sue Boyd, at (850 )224-4894.
We will be offering both training and testing sessions during 2006. We highly recommend the training seminars for those who are interested in becoming certified judges with UCWDC and for those dancers who are interested in gaining knowledge relating to dance mechanics and technique. We now also have DVD’s available covering all points of the curriculum. See below for more information on the DVD’s. The testing sessions will be for those whose applications for judge certification have been accepted and are now ready to take the next step toward becoming a fully certified UCWDC judge. By offering both programs we feel we can improve the quality of the dancing and standardize the judging process.
Applications are available from Sue Boyd if you are interested in becoming a certified couples or line judge. There is a $25 filing fee payable upon submission and you will be notified if you have been accepted by the committee or not. Check this website for training sessions that will be offered. To prepare for the certification exam at the fundamental level you may attend the Dance Fundamentals A class or get DVD-A. For certification at the journeyman level you may attend the Dance Fundamentals B class or get DVD-B. These classes are not required but are your best preparation for the exams.
